Hearing Loop Specialists, Inc. was created out of a passion to provide the hearing impaired with a better hearing experience in places that were traditionally a frustration. Following the initiative of David Myers, Ph.D. of Holland, Michigan and his campaign entitled “Let's Loop America”, audiologist, Julia A. Shirk, Au.D. has now brought that mission to Oklahoma and beyond. Dr. Shirk has been serving those with hearing loss for over 30 years and it is her commitment to bring to them a technology that allows them to hear as though the speaker is talking directly into their ears. No more worry of hearing in a large room with bad acoustics, no more concern of how much background noise there is, and trying to hear at a distance is eliminated. The technology is known as an induction hearing loop and it works with a tiny coil of wire, the telecoil, which is found in over 60% of hearing aids that are fit today. |
